Jaxon Hughes

Walk-on transfer offensive lineman who joined the team in the summer after spending the past four years at Charlotte, including the last two as a starter… expected to challenge for immediate playing time at a tackle position… experienced performer with 18 career starts, including 16 at left tackle and two at right tackle… began his career on the defensive line.

2022 (Redshirt Junior)
Played and started in 11 games at left tackle for the Charlotte 49ers, including a start at South Carolina… anchored an offensive line that protected the 49ers’ record-setting passing game… Charlotte put up a record 3,252 passing yards and a 271.0 passing average… was on the Athletic Director’s List in the spring.

2021 (Redshirt Sophomore)
Started all seven games played… missed five games with injury… started the first five games at left tackle… shifted to right tackle for two starts… key in protecting dual-threat QB Chris Reynolds, who ranked second in C-USA in points responsible for and passing TDs and broke single-season records for passing yards and TDs… earned a spot on the Dean’s list in the spring.

2020 (Redshirt Freshman)
Played in three games after shifting to the offensive line… first collegiate action came at Florida Atlantic… also played at North Texas and at Duke.

2019 (Freshman)
Redshirted in his first season with the Charlotte 49ers.

HIGH SCHOOL
Graduated from Northern Guilford High School in North Carolina in 2019… recorded 65 tackles with 23.0 TFL, 4.0 sacks and one forced fumble as senior… earned honorable mention all-Area honors by the Greensboro News & Record… the Nighthawks tied for second in the Mid-State 3A Conference and advanced to the 3AA State playoffs after posting an 8-4 record under coach Erik Westberg.
